My Story:

Hi, I’m Donk — the older (and a little more outgoing) half of the donkey duo here at CJ’s Stable! Like my best buddy Bud, I was rescued and needed a little extra care when I first arrived. It took me some time to get comfortable and learn that I was finally safe, but now I’m healthy, happy, and loving life at the stable.

I share my pen with Bud and our little friend Brody the pony. We spend our days playing, napping in the sunshine, and greeting guests who stop by to say hello. I love people and am usually the first one to come up for scratches or a treat. If you visit CJ’s Stable, you might even hear me bray to say “hi!” before you see me.

Like most donkeys, I can be a little stubborn at times — if I’m unsure about something, I might just stop and stand still to think about it. But with a gentle voice and a little patience, I’ll happily carry on once I know everything’s okay.

One of my favorite things to do is give little rides to CJ’s children around the pen. They always giggle and cheer me on, and I take great pride in being gentle and steady for them. When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me rolling in the sand or sunbathing beside Bud — it keeps the flies away and just feels wonderful!

Life at CJ’s Stable has been good to me. I might have started out shy, but now I’m confident, friendly, and always ready to meet new friends — especially if they bring snacks! 💛
