Body Mass Index & Riding
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure for human body shape based on an individual's mass and height. As it relates to horseback riding, as a rider's BMI increases, their center of gravity gets higher, thereby reducing the rider's ability to stabilize themselves in the saddle. Because horseback riding is a physical sport, it is critical that we evaluate each rider's BMI when determining if he or she can safely negotiate the trail. Physical fitness is one of many factors that determine your ability to safely participate. We reserve the right to decline service to any individual that, in the opinion of the management, cannot be safely accommodated.
Fully clothed, the BMI can not exceed 34 AND rider's maximum total weight may not exceed 220 lbs (or 260 for a draft horse). We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. These restrictions are for the safety and comfort of our guests & our horses and are in no way meant to cause embarrassment or ill will.
Call us for special considerations.
we do understand BMI does not account for every situation. if you feel you are above the standard BMI guideline and are fit and balanced to ride please contact us.
We do have 1 large draft horses that may be able to accommodate a taller/heavier rider
Please click HERE for a BMI calculator or see the chart below
If you have any questions please contact stable 231-839-2164

Yes, we do! We’re happy to offer hot chocolate for everyone on our sleigh rides. We just ask that parents help their children when preparing or pouring their cups
Can we bring our own beverage?
Yes! We do provide hot chocolate during our sleigh rides, but guests are more than welcome to bring their own non-alcoholic beverages. Just a couple of quick notes: please avoid bringing any glass containers and remember to take any garbage with you when you leave. Thanks for helping us keep everything tidy and enjoy your ride
Do you provide blankets
We do offer some blankets, but guests are welcome to bring their own.
Is there a fire pit at the end of the ride in the winter?
Yes! In the winter we offer a cozy propane fire pit that provides a quick, warm spot for anyone who wants to relax for a bit after the sleigh ride. If you’d like to hang out a little longer or enjoy any snacks you’ve brought along, you’re more than welcome to do so.
For everyone’s safety and comfort, we ask that all guests remain seated with arms and legs inside the wagon or sleigh at all times. Please do not stand up or attempt to get off during the ride. We will make a few stops to let the horses rest, but everyone should remain seated during these breaks as well.
Also, if you bring along any items like snacks or drinks, please be sure to take all your garbage with you at the end of the ride. We appreciate your help in keeping our sleighs and wagons tidy for everyone!
